Many people can be found that are willing to support both sides of the debate regarding whether are not hidden messages exist in artwork. While some individuals believe that hidden messages can be found in almost all forms of artwork, others feel that the discussion is nothing more than a way to spark a debate. In fact, support can be found for both sides of the argument. Deciding which viewpoint is right is much more difficult, as artwork in and of itself is of a subjective nature. Therefore, an argument can always be made about the intentions of the artist but very rarely is a concrete answer readily available.I was looking for more information and found it here.

Understanding the messages that an artist may or may not be trying to convey through a piece of artwork is not an exact science. Each person that views a piece of artwork is likely to come away with a different idea of the message that the artist was trying to convey. Unless the artist is able to make a statement concerning his or her artwork, there is no certain way to know exactly what he or she was thinking when the piece was done. There is no doubt that individuals have made attempts to associate the existence of hidden messages in a certain piece of artwork throughout history. The accuracy of that association, however is often in question.

Due to the subjectivity of art in practically any form, it is often impossible to say with any degree of certainty exactly what meaning is behind a particular piece. It is likely that the artist had a certain point of view in mind when the piece was completed and in some cases it may very well contain hidden messages. However, many times this is the stuff of legend and while there may not be any hidden messages in a given piece of artwork, it does indeed make for a good story.

Sculpting is one of the most difficult art forms to create due to its complexity, but it is one of the easiest to understand. There are exactly three types of sculpture and while there are a few sub-categories, these three types encompass all forms of sculpture. The three types are relief, assemblage, and in the round.

Relief Sculpture:

Relief sculpture is most commonly found in architechture as it is literally carved into a vertical surface such as a wall or pillar. The object can either be carved to stand out from the object or carved into the object. Carved Egyptian heiroglyphs inside tombs and other structures are forms of relief sculpture.

In the Round Sculpture:

This type of sculpture is the most common. This is when someone creates a piece that is designed to be viewed from all sides and is free-standing. Such masterpieces as Rodin’s The Thinker or Michelangelo’s Pieta are some examples of in the round sculpture.

Assemblage

While assemblage can be either in the round or relief it is very different in nature. The other forms of sculpture require you to start with a material and carve or sculpt from it while assemblage is the creation of a sculpture from a gathering of materials. This can be as simple as a Cornell style shadow box to a canvas covered in buttons.

We’ve got the lowdown on a few of the Southeast’s best and most talked about museums – plan your trip today!
The High Museum of Art – People don’t typically think of art when the think of Atlanta but the High has collections ranging from neoclassical to post-modern. It’s four floors of astonishingly diverse art with a flair for the local.
Mint Museum of Art – Charlotte’s trademark museum recently moved into a shiny new space in “Uptown” giving ample room for the surrealist and craft exhibits housed here. They’re open late at least one night a month and the museum even has an on-site organic eatery.
Southeast Museum of Photography – Located in Daytona, FL, this is one of the premier museums focused on photography in the Southeast. With collections from local artists and well-knowns like Ansel Adams you’d be hard pressed to find a better photography museum in this part of the world.

The five most artistic cities in the world that often run through my mind are London, Paris, Rome, Florence, and Vienna. London is home to over 200 separate art venues, including the National Gallery of art that houses original works by da Vinci and Van Gogh, the Royal Opera House, and a mansion that once was the home of the Duke of Wellington. In Paris you will find many museums and monuments. From the Eiffel Tower to the Louvre that houses da Vinci’s original Mona Lisa and was originally built in the late 12th century, there is art and history all around. Rome was not built in a day, as the saying goes, and neither was their culture and art. In Rome you will find ancient sculptures and architecture along with the Sistine Chapel with Michelangelo’s legendary ceiling, Spiritually themed art by Picasso, Gauguin, and Chagall. Florence is Michelangelo’s hometown and still houses examples of his magnificent architecture along with his sculpture “David.” In Vienna you will find ancient Egyptian art as well as works by Van Dyck and Rembrandt. At Kunsthalle Wien they showcase modern and contemporary art from artists such as Picasso while at Osterreichische Gallery, they have medieval and baroque art.

Over the centuries, love has been to blame for a variety of different artistic creations. Songs, sculptures, and especially paintings, have been the result of an artist who was proclaiming their love for a person, place, or thing. Take a look at some of the most popular pieces of art from the past and you will see that romance has been very inspirational for many artists.

Pablo Picasso was completely taken with a women who was forty years younger. This love relationship is what inspired paintings like La Femme Fleur. He even painted a piece titled, “I love Eva”, after an affair with a woman named Eva. It has even been long speculated that Vincent Van Gogh used painting to connect with women that he was interested in, because he was so terribly shy and quiet. It is believed that Monet’s infamous , “Water Lilies”, became much more beautiful and reflective as a direct result of Claude reflecting on the love and life that he had with his wife, Alice.

It is simply amazing the way that love can play on the emotions and extremely effect the direct outcome of a piece of art. Perhaps, love is not just in the art, it is a artwork, all in itself.

Art is a visual reference of the culture of a people, time, and place as seen through the eyes of the men and women who have recorded it for posterity. Each artist has given us a special insight into their world as they lived it. Our museums located all around the world have placed these works of inspiration on display for our enjoyment for generations to come.

The Musee du Louvre located in Paris, France house some of the most incredible paintings and drawings in the world. The visit this museum is to step into a time warp that will transport one from antiquity to the modern day artist.I was looking for more information and found it here. Famous and not so famous are housed together.

The Vatican Museums, which make their home in Vatican City, Rome, Italy houses the room of the Immaculate Conception. The amazing fresco painted by Francesco Podesti conveys the story of the virgin birth. Then of course, the Sistine Chapel commissioned by Pope Julius II and painted by Michelangelo is a crowning achievement to the creative genius of man in his relationship to his creator.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, New York has an accumulation of art and artifacts that depict the creative spirit of man from the dawn of time up to the latest art finds. This museum is dedicated to presenting the highest and best of the creative world.

Take a moment feast your eyes and mind on the greatness of the creative mind from artifacts that tell the story of man and his journey to the interpretive depictions of the world through the eyes of the artist.

These days with such popular modern artists as Jeremy Fish (who has worked with rappers like Aesop Rock), there are also some other artists that aren’t so well known that you should know about-

Leonardo Da Vinci- Though a lot of people do know his work, a lot of people are unfamiliar with how brilliant this man was. He was a painter, sculptor, musician, scientist, writer, geologist, and of course, artist. Catch up here

Masaccio- At 27 when he died, he was one of the most influential artists in the Renaissance period. He created a style of his own that created the illusion of 3 dimensions.

Donato Bramante- As a painter and architecture, he built several churches in a newly formed antique style. He was also appointed to be the court architect in 1476 by Duke Ludovico Sforza.

Giorgione, Titan- A Venetian painter of the High Renaissance period, only six of his survivng paintings are acknowledged to be his work.

Fra Bartolomeo- An Italian Renaissance painter for religious subjects

Andrea Del Sarto- An Italian painter from Florence
